The most fuel efficient car offered by Toyota is the Prius Plug-in. Not only is it extremely fuel efficient but it is also stylish and comes full of great features. So many different features that we simply can’t cover them all, so we have highlighted the features that stand out to us. The Prius Plug-in comes in two trim levels, the Prius Plug-in and the Prius Plug-in Advanced.
On the exterior, these two trim levels have almost the same standard features with a few exceptions. The Prius Plug-in has standard projector-beam halogen headlights with auto-off features, while the Advanced trim comes standard with LED headlights with auto level control, auto on and off feature and headlight cleaners. Both headlights will provide excellent lighting for night time driving so you can see everything in front of you. The Advanced trim also has standard integrated fog lights, making it much easier to drive on those foggy nights when your normal brights make it harder. LED daytime running lights with on and off feature as well as LED tail and stop lights are standard on both trims. These LED lights provide excellent lighting. If you have an LED TV just imagine the brightness and sharpness of that light as a headlight. Hybrid Synergy Drive blue accent headlights and badges with exclusive Plug-in Hybrid badging are standard for both trims, adding a bit of flair and unique styling. Washer-linked variable intermittent windshield wipers and rear window wipers are standard on both trims as well. The final standout features are standard UV reduction glass windshield and an illuminated charging port with charging indicator so you know how much charge your car has.
On the interior, these two trims share a lot of the same standard features, but there are some features that make the Advanced trim worth the extra money. Standard on the Plug-in is a 6.1 touch-screen display serves as your screen for the backup camera, navigation as well as your audio system control. This audio system includes AM/FM radio, CD player, Bluetooth streaming capabilities, HD radio with iTunes tagging, a 90-day complimentary trial of SiriusXM radio, advanced voice recognition, a USB/ Auxiliary jack for music playing devices, and entune. Once your phone is synced with the car’s Bluetooth, the display also allows for hands-free phone access. With six speakers located throughout the vehicle, this truly is a great entertainment system for your car. Entune is something new from Toyota, it includes the ability to sync your mobile device with your car and then use apps with Entune such as searching for things on Bing, iHeartRadio, Pandora, movietickets.com, and OpenTable. The Advanced trim has an audio system that is an upgrade to the Plug-in system. This upgrade includes 7in. high resolution touch-screen with split screen capability, eight JBL GreenEdge speakers, an amplifier, and some additional smaller features for the navigation system. This takes your music listening experience to a whole new level. The Entune that is included with this audio system has more features in it, giving you more information and making life a little easier.
Fabric-trimmed heated front seats with seatback pockets is standard in the Plug-in trim, while the Advanced trim comes standard with Softex-trimmed heated front seats with power lumbar support and seatback pockets. Both trims come standard with cruise control, however the Advanced model also comes standard with dynamic radar cruise control. This nifty cruise control uses radar sensors and will change your cruise control speed based on the car in front of you so you don’t run into them. It will then speed you back up to the speed you previously had set once there is nothing in front of you. Standard on both trim levels is automatic climate control with air filter, dust and pollen filtration mode, electric compressor, and push-button controls. Digital instrumentation with speedometer, fuel gauge, odometer, current fuel economy, shift position indicator and drive mode indicator. Both of these trims come with three different drive modes: EV, ECO and Power for those different driving situations. A Smart Key System on three doors with push button start is also standard on both trims. The push button start makes life much easier, instead of having to dive into your pocket or purse for the key; you just need to have the key in the car and push the button and it will start. The final standout feature is the overhead console with maplights and shift illumination are standard on both trims.
The Star Safety System, which all together provides you with more control while driving and more stopping power, is standard on both trim levels. Driver and front passenger advanced airbag system; driver and front passenger seat-mounted side airbags, driver knee airbag, and front and rear side curtain airbags are standard on both trims. Front and rear energy-absorbing crumple zones with side-impact door beams is a very nice standard safety feature and a vehicle proximity notification system is standard on both trims. The final standout feature is a very nice and unique safety feature that is only available and standard on the Advanced trim is Safety Connect. Safety Connect includes emergency assistance, stolen vehicle locator, roadside assistance and automatic collision notification. This is available by subscription and comes with a complimentary one-year trial subscription.
