The 2013 FJ Cruiser has an abundance of standard features that make it a car worth owning, so for this review we are just going to highlight those features that stood out to us.
Two-tone exterior color, body color with white roof top as well as black overfenders with black front and rear mudguards come standard on the FJ Cruiser. Multi-reflector halogen headlights with auto-off feature are standard so if you forget to turn off your headlights you don’t have to worry about your battery dying. For ease of access there are two full doors and two access doors that come standard on the FJ Cruiser. Finally Metallic silver door handles and outside mirrors are standard, adding a bit of flashiness.
Air conditioning with air filters and rear seat vents comes standard, allowing your passengers to cool down much easier. An AM/FM CD player with MP3/WMA playback capability and MP3 sound enhancement, six speakers, SiriusXM Satellite Radio capability, HD radio, auxiliary audio jack, USB port with iPod connectivity, auto sound leveling, hands free capability, music streaming via wireless technology, and iPod interface comes standard on all trims of the Yaris. This audio system offers an enjoyable music listening experience for anyone who drives one of these cars. Heavy-duty all-weather flooring and rear deck comes standard so you don’t have to worry about mud or water ruining the interior floor. A tilt 3-spoke steering wheel with audio and Bluetooth controls on it comes standard, allowing for easy control of the radio and Bluetooth while driving. Power windows and door locks can be taken for granted now a days but the FJ Cruiser has it. An auto-dimming rear view mirror with integrated backup camera display is standard. This feature helps with backing up and will automatically reduce the glare from the sun or other headlights with its dimming feature. Finally maplights and front and rear door maps pockets come standard, making it easy to see something you need to read at night.
The Star Safety System is standard on 2013 FJ Cruiser. This system includes Enhanced Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Anti-lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Brake Assist and Smart Stop Technology. For the most part, all you need to know about these is that they either make your brakes function better or help your car keep traction on the road while keeping you in control. With standard driver and front passenger front seat-mounted side airbags and front and rear Roll-sensing Side Curtain Airbags with cutoff switch, the FJ Cruiser is an extremely safe off-roading vehicle. Finally with an engine immobilizer, if your key isn’t near the engine, it cannot start, making the vehicle very hard to steal.
Overall the FJ Cruiser is a great off-roading vehicle while still offering the overall quality you would expect from a Toyota.
