Toyota is committed to protecting the environment in every step of its manufacturing process. For almost a decade, the Toyota Returnable Container Program has prevented over 220 million pounds of recyclable wood and 145 million pounds of cardboard from heading to the landfill. In addition, this revolutionary recycling program has saved over $100 million off of the cost of packaging. When the program began in 2002, Toyota parts centers in North America began shipping in containers made of recycled materials. Since this time, the program has expanded to include 1,400 dealerships, 160 suppliers, as well as several parts and distribution centers.
