Over the years Toyota has innovated a variety of technologies that make driving safer and more convenient. The latest project that Toyota is working on is Automated Highway Driving Assist (AHDA), a technology that combines two main features: Cooperative-adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Trace Control. Cooperative-adaptive Cruise Control uses vehicle-to-vehicle ITS communications to communicate with vehicles ahead and behind so that a safe inter-vehicle distance can be maintained. In addition to improving fuel efficiency, this feature helps to increase safety and reduce traffic congestion. Lane Trace Control uses high-tech cameras, radar, and control software to read driving conditions, and can adjust the steering, torque, and brakes to keep the Toyota in its lane. Expect these cutting-edge Toyota technologies to debut in the mid-2010s.
